We have just installed social book marking icons on Tartan Trader so that you can help your friends and family find us. So if you've enjoyed your Tartan Trader shopping experience and would like to spread the word, feel free to bookmark us with any of the following sites.
What is social bookmarking?
Social bookmarking is a way for Internet users to store, organise, search, and manage bookmarks of their favorite web pages and websites of interest with the help of metadata (relevant keywords and categories used to describe a website's content).
Digg
Digg is a social bookmarking site that allows its users to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. This means that when you bookmark the Tartan Trader website on Digg, it becomes available for Digg users to find and vote on. If a website receives enough votes (or 'Diggs'), it is promoted to the front page for millions of users to see. Digg has no editors, so all of its ratings are collectively determined by its users.
Delicious
Delicious is a social bookmarking service that allows its users to tag, save, manage and share web pages in one place. It's possible to bookmark any site, e.g. Tartan Trader, and get to it from anywhere because all of your bookmarks are kept in sync between all of your computers. If your friends and family use Delicious, you can send them interesting bookmarks to check out the next time they log in.
StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon is a social network that helps you discover and share great websites. As you click Stumble! on their website, you will be automatically taken to a web page that matches the personal preferences on your profile. Each page you are taken to has been rated and recommended by other StumbleUpon users with similar interests. This helps you discover great content you probably wouldn't find using a search engine.
Furl, soon to become Diigo
Diigo is several services in one: a collaborative research tool, a knowledge-sharing community and social content site. Diigo also provides a browser add-on that can really improve your research productivity. As you read content on the web, you can highlight portions of web pages that are of particular interest to you instead of simply bookmarking the whole site. You can also attach 'sticky notes' to specific parts of web pages. Whenever you return to a web page you've annotated, you will see your highlights and sticky notes superimposed on the original page, just what you would expect if you highlighted or wrote on a book!
Google has a web-based bookmarks service that allows you to store all your browser bookmarks in your google account for access from any computer, anywhere. By adding Tartan Trader to your Google bookmarks, you will be able to access our website whenever an incredible gift idea occurs to you out of the blue!
